“Music, Masquerade, Spectacle!” Workshop in West Hollywood
LA Carnival On Tour Brings “Music, Masquerade, Spectacle!” to West Hollywood
LA Carnival On Tour, labelled "Rock Stars" by the City of Santa Clarita, brought their one-of-a-kind engagement to beautiful West Hollywood. On Saturday, February 4th, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., they hosted an immersive workshop called "Music, Masquerade, Spectacle!" at the WeHo Library's Community Room.
The workshop was all about exploring the connection between your values and your creativity. International Eye LA, the presenter of this fabulous event, brought in the incredibly talented Bernard Hoyes as the Featured Artist. Hoyes, whose artwork is included in collections owned by Oprah Winfrey, Steve Harvey, and Capitol Records in Hollywood, joined event producer Marie Kellier as they guided attendees through the intersectionality of art, culture, and personal values.
During the workshop, participants had the chance to design and create their own "Karnival Krown" (Headdress), "Karnival Kover" (Jonkonnu mask), or "Karnival Kicks" (decorative shoes) using inspiration and prompts from the discussion. It was a truly hands-on and artistic experience!
The best part? This event was absolutely free! However, participants were required to register via Eventbrite to secure their spot and ensure there were enough materials for everyone. LA Carnival On Tour was supported by an arts grant from the City of West Hollywood, as well as additional support from the LA County Department of Arts and Culture and the California Arts Council. The event was sponsored by International Eye LA and produced by MARIKEL Studios.
